Let's talk about YOU. Up until now, there hasn't been too much to say. You were just a baby blob. But now at 9.5 months, you have quite the personality. First, you smile. A lot. Sometimes instead of responding. You have several different grins, all of which are goofy and sweet. Second, you slither. You are my latest crawler. Not yet up on your knees. But you move crazy fast on your belly. And you leave little divet trails in the carpet with your toes. Third, you steal. Your favorite thing to take is shoes. You will grab one and quickly slither off in the opposite direction with a look of victory on your face. You try to steal your brothers' toys, but usually you don't get away with that one. Fourth, you squak. For the last few months, you have made this silly screechy/squaky noise when you don't get enough attention. It is entertaining at times. Deafening at others. Fifth, you poke. Eyes. For whatever reason, you have an obsession with eyes. You will try to pry your fat little fingers through our lids to scratch and poke at our eyes. Mommy is not a fan of this. Sixth, you snuggle. If we wrap you up in one of your favorite muslin blankies, you cuddle up close and pass out. I am going to have a hard time helping you kick this habit. With three little boys, this is the only snuggle time Mommy gets during the day. Seventh, you "walk". Your feet are fat and pigeon toed. But you think you can walk. And you insist on being upright on your feet whenever being held. Eighth, you head-bang. We noticed this several months ago, when you would rub your head violently across your crib bars. Now it is any awkward surface when you are bored. The corner of a wall. Toys. Someone's leg. A chair. Back and forth. Back and forth. With force. Ninth, you wave. Sort of. You raise your arm in a salute. And, if the recipient is lucky, you wag your entire arm in any which direction it happens to go. Generally all fingers but you pointer finger are curled, so it looks as if you are pointing while "waving". Tenth, and finally, you eat. Only baby food and puffs. The latter by the handful. I try to give you little bits of bread, orange, noodle, strawberry, banana and so forth. But you hate anything that isn't a puff or purée on a spoon. So I am convinced you will never learn to eat solids. Silly baby. D, I love you so much. For so many reasons!
Love,
Mommy
